A+E Networks|TV18 has promoted Sangeetha Aiyer as vice-president and head, marketing. She was working as general manager, marketing for History TV18.

Aiyer will be based in Mumbai and will report to Ajay Chacko, president, A+E Networks|TV18. She joined the group in 2011.

Her new responsibilities will include overseeing the marketing verticals of the joint venture - both consumer and trade. She will also provide strategic and marketing solutions for History TV18 and for any other channels that are launched from the A+E Networks|TV18 stable.

Speaking about her new mandate, Aiyer says, "My responsibility will be to increase the reach of the channel, strengthen the audience base, expansion of factual entertainment genre, look after the marketing activities, drive engagement and connect with production houses to look for relevant programming."

The joint venture may come up with new channels in early 2014.

Aiyer has more than 14 years of experience in brand management, content planning and activations. Before joining the Network18 group, she was associated with brands such as Times Television Network, Arvind Mills, STAR India and Reliance Media Network.

History TV18 is the factual entertainment channel launched in 2011. It is a joint venture between Network18 and A+E Networks. It offers content in five different languages in India. Some of its popular shows in India are Bollywood@100, Earth Under Water and The Road Less Travelled. The channel's programming covers a diverse variety of historical genres ranging from contemporary history to core history, technology, natural history as well as science, archaeology and transport.
