Sundar comes on board with over 15 years of experience.
Quikr has appointed PD Sundar as head of the company's soon-to-be-launched services vertical - QuikrServices. As the head of this business, which has a very strong consumer appeal in India, Sundar will be responsible for further extending Quikr's leadership by verticalising its product as well as marketing and revenue generation for this category.
Sundar has 15 years of experience in the internet industry in India. He was the head of internet channels and e-commerce at Citibank India, and the head of digital business at The Hindu, one of India's respected newspapers. Previously, Sundar headed the overall India classifieds business at Sulekha, across categories such as real estate, cars & bikes and used goods. Sundar is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad.
Quikr has a large business in this category and the company's step is in line with its strategy of going deeper in areas where it already has a leadership position in India.
Commenting on his appointment, Pranay Chulet, founder and CEO, Quikr, says, "We welcome Sundar to Quikr as we go deeper in key categories and further extend our overall market leadership in the Indian classifieds industry. We already dominate services classifieds in the country and its growth is further accelerating for us. More and more consumers are using Quikr to find stuff ranging from retail services such as hobby classes and electronics repair to household service providers such as maids, cooks, drivers, plumbers and movers. We are excited to have an experienced business builder like Sundar lead our charge in this category."
"I am delighted to be a part of the largest classifieds platform in India; we already have a very large, market leading business in services, and yet things are going to get even more interesting for us in terms of size as well as depth of our business. When we look at the insides of our business, it's evident to us that our own platform's network effect in services is further getting compounded by the macro factors in India. I am immensely excited about the opportunity to lead Quikr Services," Sundar says.
Quikr is a cross-category classifieds platform that is used by over 30 million unique users a month. It is present in 1,000 cities in India and operates in over 10 categories that include mobile phones, household goods, cars, real estate, jobs, services and education.
Quikr operates across desktop, laptop and mobile phones, and allows consumers as well as small businesses to sell, buy, rent and find things across its multiple categories with great ease.
