Sen, who has been with the Omnicom-owned TBWA for the past nine years, is all set to join an ad agency from a rival network, as CEO.
Nirmalya Sen, the Mumbai-based president of TBWA India, has moved on from the Omnicom-owned agency. He has been with TBWA for the past nine years and is now set to join an ad agency from a rival network, as CEO, we learn from highly placed industry sources.
Sen has been part of the Indian advertising industry for two decades. He began his career in the early 1990s as brand manager with Jenson & Nicholson, a company that markets paint. Ad agencies he has worked at prior to joining TBWA include Trikaya Grey (a move that marked his entry into the ad industry), Saatchi & Saatchi (where he worked for five years) and DDB Mudra (where he worked for another five years).
On the management front, this year has been an interesting one for TBWA India.
Recall that in March, the agency lost its group CEO Shiv Sethuraman (now CEO, Percept One). TBWA replaced Sethuraman with Vineet Bajpai, who was previously CEO of Magnon TBWA, the agency's digital arm. Currently, Bajpai runs the TBWA India Group as CEO.
March was also when Sen was named president of TBWA India, prior to which he worked as managing director of the agency.
It remains to be seen which agency Sen is set to join in the days ahead. The announcement, we learn from our sources, is impending, and will be made sooner than later.
Globally, TBWA is positioned as 'The Disruption Agency'.
