The Pidilite Industries-owned M Seal is running an activation in the under-privileged areas of Mumbai to promote the use of M Seal to prevent roofs from leaking during the forthcoming monsoon.
With the monsoon approaching, M seal, a Pidilite Industries brand is running an initiative to create awareness amongst slum dwellers about cost effective and affordable solutions to manage water leakages at home.
The activation is being carried out in slums of Dharavi, Bhandup, Kalina and Thane. The M Seal team shows easy 'Do-it-Yourself' methods by conducting live demonstration at various key points. Vishal Malhan, vice president, sales and marketing, consumer products - maintenance division, Pidilite Industries, says, "We all know that occurrence of roof leakage in slums is high. The objective is to educate the consumers about a low cost solution to manage day-to-day leakage issues. We are also planning to scale up to cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Lucknow, Kolkata and Surat by July."
According to the government's official data, about 65 lakh people live in 13 lakh hutments in these areas. Generally hutment dwellers have to resort to relatively expensive and temporary processes to protect their homes from leakages during monsoon. M Seal offers low-cost leakage proof solutions for as low as Rs 5 or Rs 10 depending on the type of leakage.
Slum dwellers usually use plastic sheets that need to be repaired or changed at the time of leakage. This is an expensive proposition compared to the options M Seal offers. Pidilite Industries is a major player in the adhesives and sealants, construction chemicals, craftsmen products, DIY (Do-It-Yourself) products and polymer emulsions in India. Some of their popular brands are Fevicol, M Seal, FeviKwik, Fevistik, Roff, Dr. Fixit, Sargent Arts, Hobby Ideas, Motomax, and Cyclo.
