It's a busy Monday morning here in Cannes. And just like Mondays back home, there's traffic, ongoing road construction work and chaos all around. The atmosphere is not too different inside the Palais de Festivals. As journalists from different nationalities inundate the media room this morning, the Indian ones find out that our agencies have managed to get 37 Press shortlists this year.

Leading this pack is Taproot India with 12 shortlists, followed by O&M and McCann with nine each. Then comes Leo Burnett with four shortlists, followed by Grey with two and DDB Mudra with one.

Taproot's shortlisted entries include the following: Gatorade campaign for PepsiCo (Push Ups with Claps, Skate Board Shove It and Back-Flip campaigns) in the Non-Alcoholic Drinks sub-category; Times of India Farmers' Suicide campaign (Fundraising and Appeals, Illustration and Art Direction sub-categories).

O&M's shortlisted entries include: LED Torch campaign for Philips Electronics India (Forest, Alley, Gorge) in the Home Appliances & Furnishings and Art Direction sub-categories; and Dog Adoption campaign for World For All (Train, Terrace, Noose) in the Fundraising and Appeals sub-categories.

McCann's shortlisted entries include: Audio Books campaign for the Penguin Group India (William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde) in the Publications and Media, Art Direction and Illustration sub-categories.

Leo Burnett's Tide campaign has fetched it three shortlists: School campaign in the Household Cleaning Products sub-category; and the School and Garage creatives under the Photography sub-category. Burnett's fourth and last Press shortlist is for its Blood Donation Drive effort (Gift Blood) for the Indian Red Cross Society under the Fundraising and Appeals sub-category.

Grey's work for Duracell Batteries (Positive & Negative 1 and Positive & Negative 2 campaigns) in the Household category has been shortlisted.

For DDB Mudra it's the campaign for PE Electronics that fetched the agency its sole Press shortlist; the Fair campaign for the product Televisions with Child-Lock campaign falls under the Home Electronics & Audio-Visual sub-category.

The odds of India winning Press Lions seem high this time. Let's wait and watch whether any of these creatives roar in the days ahead.
