He joins the company from the real-estate firm M3M India.
Nissan has appointed Sanjay Gupta as vice-president, marketing, for its subsidiary, Nissan Motor India. The appointment will be effective from December 21. He will report to Arun Malhotra, the managing director of the company.
In the new role, Gupta will help create marketing strategies across the product range. He will also take care of duties such as defining pricing, positioning, promotion and implementation of marketing strategies efficiently.
"Gupta has a consistent record of high performance and extensive experience in automotive sales, service, and marketing in India. I am happy to have a seasoned leader like him join us to accelerate Nissan's progress in a dynamic market like India," says Malhotra.
Prior to this, Gupta was senior vice-president, marketing, at M3M India. With vast experience in automotive and engineering industries, Gupta has worked with companies like Hyundai Motor India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India.
Created in 2005, Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Japan-based Nissan Motor Corporation. It offers products across hatchback, MUV, SUV and sedan segments in India.
