How to cut up an Ikea bag and make it into other useful products.
The iconic Frakta bag from Ikea has now instructions to keep it going in different avatars not just as a bag. In its Dubai store, the retailer started giving out bags with instructions on them about how to repurpose them. Memec Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, which came up the idea, feels that the bag has now become a “product with endless possibilities”.
A design that is composed of just lines in the bag gives it a second life. One can convert the Frakta into an apron, a bib for children and even a leg-hammock that one can use while at the workstation. Will the customer bite? Well, the promotional bags were sold out within a week of being introduced.
This is just another takeaway of Ikea’s commitment to sustainability.
