Jain’s new designation is as senior VP, South Asia and all business units in this SA region will report to him.

Reckitt Benckiser has reverted to its original company structure in India and Gaurav Jain has been elevated to the position of overall chief of the company.

According to a report by the Economic Times, the company has brought the health and hygiene business units under one focussed leadership team to optimise the potential of the complementary nature of products spread over the Dettol, Lysol and Harpic businesses. Jain’s new designation is as senior VP, South Asia and all business units in this SA region will report to him.

Four years ago, the Indian counterpart of Reckitt Benckiser had split its business into two separate units – health and hygiene the India unit of the British consumer goods maker had split its business into two units - health and hygiene. The two units had two functional heads, including an overall chief executive.

The reorganisation was a direct result of a global move and the company at the time claimed that it was an effort to sharpen focus on growth. At that time, Jain had been named senior vice president for the AMESA region (inclusive of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East), directly overseeing the India health business.
