Amit Jain joins Loréal as managing director

Previously, Jain worked with Akzo Nobel as managing director, North-West Europe.

In a recent announcement, L’Oréal India has appointed Amit Jain as managing director effective August 1, 2018. He succeeds Jean-Christophe Letellier who after five years in the role, will take on an important position within the L’Oréal group.

Jain will be L’Oréal India’s first Indian managing director. His career spans over 30 years with renowned companies across countries such as ICI, Coca Cola, Viacom and Akzo Nobel. In his last role, Jain held the position of managing director, North-West Europe for Akzo Nobel, based in Amsterdam.

Pierre-Yves Arzel, vice president - South Asia Pacific Zone, L’Oréal, says in a press release, “I’d like to thank Jean-Christophe Letellier who in the past 5 years has made a remarkable contribution to the success of L’Oréal India. Under his leadership, the country experienced significant sales growth, revolutionized digital and e-commerce platforms, and achieved ambitious targets in skill development and environmental sustainability.

He adds, “We believe that Amit’s rich global experience with a deep understanding of India, transformational leadership skills and inclusive personality will be an important asset in further developing L’Oréal’s business in India. His mission is to build on our rich talent base and global brands, to make L’Oréal India an engine for growth in Asia. We welcome Amit to the L’Oréal family and wish him all the best.

Jain will also look after Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He will report to Arzel and additionally to Jochen Zaumseil vice president, APAC.

Jain holds a MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) and has done an Advanced Management Program from the Wharton Business School. Amit supports wildlife conservation and literacy for underprivileged children.
