Sunil Lulla has decided to move on from Balaji Telefilms a year after joining as the group CEO. Sources in the organisation confirmed the development and said that he is still in office and serving his notice period. The corporate communications team refused to comment on the development.

Sunil Lulla was appointed as the group CEO on May 25, 2018. He joined the television and film studio after a four-year stint with Grey Group as chairman and managing director. Lulla's appointment was announced after Sameer Nair resigned from the organisation.

Balaji Telefilms runs movies business under Balaji Motion Pictures, owns and operates ALTBalaji a subscription video-on-demand platform. It continues to produce content for television channels under Balaji Telefilms. In July 2017, India's biggest company by market value Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries (RIL) acquired 24.92 percent stake in Balaji Telefilms in a deal worth Rs 413.28 crore.
