Sharma will be heading end-to-end marketing at Xiaomi India, including all functions and product lines.
Xiaomi has appointed Anuj Sharma as the head of marketing for India.
Announcing Sharma's appointment, Manu Kumar Jain, vice president - Xiaomi and managing director - Xiaomi India, wrote on his Facebook page:
"Mi fans! I'm excited to announce that Anuj Sharma has joined us to head Marketing at Xiaomi India.
At Xiaomi, we believe in 'marketing without advertising'. We've always innovatively used social media, Mi Community and various Mi Fan forums to do our marketing, rather than spend 100s of crores in traditional advertising! For the 1st three years (till the time we became the No. 1 smartphone brand in India), we spent almost zero marketing dollars!
And there is no one more suitable than Anuj to take this forward.
Everyone knows Anuj as someone who has 15 years of rich experience in the technology domain. He had a long stint at Lenovo and Motorola, where he played various roles including heading online sales, product marketing and product management. But, you might not know that Anuj is also an avid gamer and loves adventure sports.
Pleased to announce that Anuj will be heading end to end marketing at Xiaomi India, including all functions and product lines.
Please join me in welcoming him to the Xiaomi family!"
