Says the brand about its new look, "It's a simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form," in an official blog.
Instagram, the free mobile photo and video sharing app (available on iOS, Android, and Windows), has rolled out its new logo that focusses on its creative aspect with an updated icon and app design.
While the old logo was a familiar skeuomorphic icon (the physical camera), the new one, says the brand in an official blog, is a "simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form."
The blog post mentions that improvements within the Instagram app on mobile are part of the logo change. The aim is to enable users post photos and videos without the brand having changed the navigation model for the app.
Two videos, 'A new look for Instagram', and 'A new look for Instagram, inspired by the community' are a part of the offering and can be viewed on http://blog.instagram.com/.
The brand says in its official blog that the rollout of Instagram's new logo had Paulo del Valle, a travel and commercial photographer, who lives in Sao Paulo, launch #myinstagramlogo project, "inspiring thousands of creators to remix our icon in wildly creative ways."
According to the brand, users will soon be able to view updated icons for its other creative apps such as Layout, Boomerang, and Hyperlapse.
