Samarth plans to develop strong teams in all disciplines, meeting current business objectives and hopes to make DDB MudraMax a top contender in the BoP space.
Rohit Samarth has joined DDB MudraMax as senior vice-president of Terra, its rural marketing arm. He will report to Mandeep Malhotra, president and head, Mudra Max - OOH, experiential business, and retail.
Samarth moves in from Percept Out-of-Home, where he was business head of its rural vertical and was responsible for all its communications and marketing strategies.
Commenting on his new role, Samarth says, "My main priority will be to continue looking out for new business opportunities for Terra, while meeting current business objectives. I would also pay more attention to team building and training to benefit and increase our bottom of the pyramid (BOP) offerings."
Samarth has more than 25 years of experience. An Economics graduate from Mumbai University, he has also obtained an advance diploma in Media Buying and Planning from the Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad.
In 1999, Samarth joined Amar Ujala Prakashan as marketing manager. In 2002, he joined India Infrastructure Publishing as vice-president, where he worked till 2006.
Subsequently, he moved to Up Close & Personal (UCP) as chief operating officer. After one year, he joined FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) as senior consultant in 2007.
Later, in March 2009 Samarth joined Linterland (the rural communication division of Lintas India) as director and continued till June 2011. In July 2011, he joined Percept OOH as business head for its rural vertical.
