The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited bids for licensing out advertisement rights inside 31 Rotem train sets. All the 31 trains consist four-cars (2DT cars + 2M cars) each. The number of cars per train may, however, increase to six cars per train in the future.

The advertising space available in each car (DT & M) of each train is 5.89 sqm. DMRC reserves the right to use 15 per cent of the total advertising space for its own use such as passenger information and public awareness messages.

There are 13 inside panels provided in each DT-car of size 520 mm x 210 mm, while 14 inside panels have been provided in each M-Car of size 520 mm x 210 mm.

The lot consisting of 31 train sets is offered for licensing of inside train advertisement rights, including ads on alternate strap hangers for the placement of advertisements. Where existing strap hangers are already available, the same may be used.

The maximum number of strap hangers permitted inside each train set of four cars is only 86. All the panels are non-backlit, all panels and strap hangers where available will be given on 'as is where is basis'.

These 31 trains will operate between Dwarka and Noida City Centre and between Anand Vihar and the Yamuna Bank line. All these thirty-one trains are broad gauge.

DMRC has fixed the price of tender documents at Rs 21,000 (including VAT). The earnest money deposit (EMD) has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh for advertising rights.

Completed tender forms are to be submitted by 12 pm on January 25, 2011. The bid will open the same day at 12:30 pm.

DMRC is a joint venture between the Government of India and the State Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It has implemented the design and construction of the first phase, Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), of about 65 kms, fully operational. The phase II of DMRC consisting of 128 kms is also operational.

In order to complement its state-of-the art international quality rolling stock and raise additional revenues, DMRC is looking forward to having high quality advertisements inside its train sets and on alternate strap hangers inside the train sets. DMRC intends to give advertising rights for a lot of 31 trains (broad gauge).
