Prior to this, Mirchandani was COO at Endemol, India, where he headed its motion pictures division.

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), India, has appointed Ram Mirchandani as head of creative development. He will be responsible for mounting the local production film slate for the company and will report to Vivek Krishnani, managing director, SPE, India.

Mirchandani brings with him over two decades of industry experience as a creative director and film producer, and is considered one of the trailblazers in driving high content cinema in India that has found critical and popular acclaim.

Speaking about his new role, Mirchandani says, "I am delighted to join SPE, India, at such an exciting time for the film industry. SPE is one of the world's leading film studios with an enviable legacy and track record. I look forward to being a part of SPE India as we get ready to create and develop local language film portfolio with a premium on content, more than anything else."

Prior to joining SPE India, Mirchandani was chief operating officer (COO) at Endemol, India, where he headed its motion pictures division. He has also led the creative teams at Eros International where he has been responsible for movies such as Rockstar, Anjaana Anjaani, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Desi Boyz, and at UTV Motion Pictures where he worked on films such as Rang De Basanti, Fashion, Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye!, Aamir, and Welcome to Sajjanpur.

Mirchandani was also founder and CEO of Rampage Motion Pictures where he co-produced the national award-winning film Vicky Donor.

Commenting upon Mirchandani's appointment, Krishnani, says, "We are pleased to have Ram (Mirchandani) on board as we are looking at expanding our studio footprint into local language production in India.
