The English general entertainment channel Star World, is all set to bring another version of the popular reality cooking competition MasterChef Australia. Contestants from eight different Asian countries, for the first time, will compete for the title in a series called MasterChef Asia. The panel of judges too, is pretty impressive. It comprises Hong Kong-born celebrity chef Susur Lee, known as the Father of Fusion, 3-Michelin star chef Bruno Ménard, and Singapore-born Audra Morrice, a MasterChef Australia finalist.
MasterChef Asia intends taking the audiences on a gastronomic journey across Asia, and be the biggest celebration of Asian cuisine in the new year. The show will present cuisines from Malaysia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, India, Singapore, Korea, and Indonesia. From the MasterChef kitchen to off-site and overseas challenges, the 15 episodes will climax with one home-cook win the title of the first-ever MasterChef Asia.
The show also has a very strong India connect. Contestants Jasbir Kaur and Priya Barve are of Indian origin. While home-maker Kaur will represent Malaysia, Barve, who is from Mumbai, and is currently, a marketing manager in Singapore, will represent India on the show.
