Media agency MEC has announced the appointment of Rajesh Kumar as chief strategy officer. Kumar will be based out of Gurgoan and will report to T Gangadhar, MD, MEC, and to Raj Gupta, chief strategy officer, MEC Asia Pacific. His role at the agency will be to strengthen strategic products to help drive better business outcomes for clients.
Kumar has been in the industry for 21 years, having started his career at McCann Erickson. Some of the brands he has worked on include Reckitt Benckiser (then Reckitt & Colman), General Motors, Bridgestone Tyres, Honda Cars, KFC, Max New York Life and HT Media. He has worked with Ogilvy in Delhi and as well as Lowe Lintas. His last two assignments were as head of marketing for Hindustan (newspaper) and as chief strategy officer at ZenithOptimedia.
On getting Kumar on board, Gangadhar says, "It's great to have Rajesh at MEC. His background is ideal to what we are seeking to achieve at MEC - that is to further improve the robustness of our strategic recommendations. The two of us will work closely to this end."
