Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus is breaking all norms and cliches as it opens up an early primetime 5.30 pm slot to accommodate Sphereorigins' 'Mere Angne Mein'. While the other daily soaps in the genre air for around 30 minutes, 'Mere Angne Mein' will occupy the screen for an hour.

In June last year, the channel had launched another daily, Suhani Si Ek Ladki which is now in the 6.30 pm slot. The show is followed by Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein that lead to the prime-time band of the genre.

According to Sunjoy Waddhwa, CMD, Sphereorigins, "We (Sphereorigins and Star Plus) wanted to try out a new format. It is an experimental kind of show. We want to see the market response for a one-hour show. The show will have multiple tracks that will go on simultaneously."

Set in Mughalsarai, the show has three sets in Malvani, Mumbai. The channel has planned 312 episodes for the show. It already has around 18 episodes in the bank. The show is being shot with a three-cam set-up.

The plot

Every household is governed by a certain set of rules, thoughts, values and one all-encompassing philosophy. While some believe that families need to adapt to changing times, there are some who resist any deviation from the tried and tested.

Mere Angne Mein showcases the clash of ideology between two such people - on the one hand is Shanti Devi (played by veteran Krutika Desai), the dominating matriarch of the Shrivastav family who believes in autocracy and running the family on her terms; on the other is Riya Saxena (essayed by Ekta Kaul), Shanti Devi's granddaughter-in-law who believes in running a democratic household. According to the channel, the show depicts the interesting chemistry as a clash occurs between these two ideologies.
