For the first time on Indian television, Hungama TV, an entertainment channel targeted at kids, will air a full-length Pokémon movie, in association with Dream Theatre, a licensing and merchandising agency.
It will be aired on April 18, at noon.
It is titled 'Pokémon - Mewtwo Ka Badla'. Characters in the film include Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, Mewtwo (a bio-engineered Pokémon) and a super-Pokémon created by Mewtwo.
Hungama TV recently launched a new TV series called 'Beyblade', which is about a character called Tyson, a young boy, who is a Beyblade Champion and wants to participate in the World Championship in Russia. It comes on air every Monday at 1:30 pm.
Vijay Subramaniam, VP, Content and Communications, Media Networks, Disney India, says, "Our content on Hungama has always reflected our core philosophy of celebrating the spirit of childhood with elements of fun, sportsmanship, adventure, and friendship. The response to the Pokémon series has been phenomenal... With the launch of the new series and movies, we continue to build on the successful association and partnership we share with Dream Theatre."
"We are elated with Pokémon's runaway success thanks to Hungama's solid programming strategy, and are very excited about Beyblade, our second content syndication association with Hungama. On the merchandising front, Pokémon products are fast flying out of stores and there are lots of new products hitting retail in May..." adds Jiggy George, founder and CEO, Dream Theatre.
