GEC Watch: &TV gains further in its second week

The channel has clocked 105057 GVTs in week 11 of TAM, as compared to 90612 GVTs in its launch week.

&TV, the latest entrant in the Hindi general entertainment space, continues to perform well. The channel, from Zee Entertainment Enterprises' sub-brand '&', recorded 105057 GVTs in week 11, up from last week's 90612 GVTs.

As per TAM data (HSM, C&S, 4+), provided by a subscriber, &TV, which was launched on March 2, is at No. 7 on the Hindi GEC ranking. The genre, after the inclusion of &TV, consists of 17 channels.

Star Plus continues to rule the roost with 592385 GVTs, as opposed to last week's 604391 GVTs. Five of its shows are in the top 10 list.

Colors has jumped back to No. 2, pushing Zee TV to No. 3 in week 11 of TAM. The Viacom18 channel grossed 428122 GVTs in week 11, up from previous week's 424489 GVTs. The channel has two of its shows, among the top 10 most watched shows.

Zee TV, meanwhile, clocked 407408 GVTs (last week 427405 GVTs) in the week ended March 14. Two of its shows featured in the top shows chart.

Star India's Life OK and Multi Screen Media's Sab TV follow, with 306964 GVTs (last week 313658) and 287818 GVTs (last week 312369), respectively.

Sab TV's flagship property 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma' is one of the most watched in the genre.

MSM's flagship channel, Sony Entertainment Television, concluded the week with 220844 GVTs (last week 247118).

SET is followed by Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Viacom18's Rishtey that are currently airing shows from their older siblings' librararies. Zee Anmol fetched 90579 GVTs (95508) in week 11; Star Utsav wound up the week with 92581 GVTs (last week 90152) and Rishtey closed the week with 50609 GVTs (last week 56654).

Sony Pal, the channel that was recently placed on Freedish and is airing repeat of shows from SET and Sab TV's library, has further seen improvement in viewership. The channel clocked 42463 GVTs in the latest week, as against 37860 GVTs in the previous week.

Reliance Broadcast Network's flagship property Big Magic settled with 41869 GVTs, as compared to 40438 GVTs in the week 10 of TAM.

Zindagi ended the week with 23457 GVTs (last week 22327), Sahara One with 9457 GVTs (last week 10880) and Epic with 7442 GVTs (last week 8236).

A look at the shows...

Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' was the most watched show in the week with an average viewership of 10.1 TVMs. The next three spots have been claimed by Star Plus' 'Saathiya Saath Nibhana' (10 TVMs), 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' (8.8 TVMs) and 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' (8.3 TVMs).

At No. 5 is Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' that garnered 8.1 TVMs in week 11. It is followed by Star Plus' 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' that ended the week with 7.5 TVMs.

The seventh spot is occupied by Sab TV's 'Taarak Mehta...' that concluded the week with a viewership of 6.9 TVMs. Next is Star Plus' 'Tu Mera Hero' which has clocked 6.4 TVMs.

Colors' 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' is at No. 9 with 5.9 TVMs. Zee TV's 'Qubool Hai' follows with 5.8 TVMs.
