Vikas Gupta, programming head of Viacom18's youth entertainment channel MTV, has put in his papers. Gupta had joined the channel on January 3, this year.
In his tenure at the channel, MTV tied up with Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures to give a platform to special content created to promote its movies. MTV aired 'Haunted Nights with Sunny Leone' to promote 'Ragini MMS 2' and then 'MTV Jhand Hogi Sabki' to promote Kapoor's project, 'Kuku Mathur Ki Toh Jhand Ho Gayi'.
The channel got Leone to host its reality show, Splitsvilla 7, touted to be the most successful season of the show. Two fiction properties - 'Fanaa' and 'Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan' were also launched.
Gupta started his career with Balaji Telefilms as a trainee. After quitting, he joined DJ's and then came back to Balaji in a newer role as an associate creative director.
He owns A Lost Boy Productions, which has produced shows like 'Gumrah' and 'The Serial' for Channel V and 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui' for Bindass.
