Shailesh Kumar joins Focus News as managing editor

At Focus TV, he will be in charge of five regional news channels. Previously, he was editor-in-chief and CEO of News Nation.

Veteran journalist Shailesh Kumar has joined Focus News as the managing editor of its regional news channels.

In his new role, he will look after Focus NE, Focus Hi Fi, Focus Oriya, Focus Bangla and Focus Haryana. He is based in Delhi.

In his conversation with afaqs!, Kumar says that his focus now would be to revamp all the channels he will be taking care of. "We will work on the content and if required even on the look and feel of the channels."

The announcement has come close on the heels of Amit Tripathi's appointment as the COO of Focus TV's Bangla and North East channel - Focus Bangla and Focus NE. He joined the company from News Express where he was working as the chief operating officer.

Kumar brings with him a work experience that spans for over three decades cutting across print and TV. In his previous assignment, he was with News Nation as the editor-in-chief and the chief executive officer of the company.

Prior to joining News Nation, he had also worked for Aaj Tak, Times of India, Navbharat Times and Zee News. He has also worked with Discovery as a creative consultant for over a year and a half.
