This December, Suprio Guha Thakurta has been given a global role at The Economist Group, that publishes The Economist magazine in both print and digital formats. He is now chief strategy officer at the group.

Guha will be based in Mumbai and will report to Chris Stibbs, CEO, The Economist Group.
About his promotion, Thakurta, says, "Earlier I was looking after circulation for the Asia region, which involved looking into the marketing efforts and the P&L side, among other aspects, for both print and digital. But now, this (chief strategy officer) is more of a global role that I am getting into."
Moreover, Guha will now be part of the general managing committee, which reports to Stibbs. The committee comprises global department heads of the group.
Guha has been with The Economist Group since 2007, when he started as associate publisher.
He has over 20 years of experience in the industry, during which time he has worked with companies like Godrej and Boyce and Lintas Personal.
For the record, The Economist was incorporated in 1843. It is known for its coverage of current affairs, including politics, business, science and technology, among several other subjects.
