Oriya daily Sambad has turned 30. On the occasion, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, editor of the paper, unveiled its new logo at a recent function held at the Ganesh temple inside Sambad Bhawan, the paper's corporate office at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Patnaik says, "Sambad continues to remain the voice of the common man and will continue to be so in the future."
At the event, Monica Nayyar Patnaik, joint managing director, Eastern Media, the media house to which Sambad belongs, thanked her colleagues and associates for their contribution to the paper's 30-year long journey.
For the record, Sambad was launched on October 4, 1984, and was the first ever Oriya news paper to hit this stands as a 'morninger'. It was also the first news paper to introduce computerised photo-type setting, offset printing and color printing (which it did with its Sunday colour pull-out).
Six years into the business, Sambad launched its first regional edition from Berhampur.
Presently, Sambad has eight editions, each in different parts of the state of Odisha.
