Starting on October 19, the show will air everyday at 2 pm and 6 pm.
Discovery Kids, the 'kids entertainment channel' from Discovery Networks, will try and strengthen its Indian content through a new show called 'Kisna'.
It is about an extraordinary little hero named Kisna, whose story is all about the victory of good over evil. The protagonist is an adventurous young boy from Anandnagri and the antagonist is the wicked Raja Durjan of Andhernagri. During the course of the series, Kisna and Raja Durjan's paths will cross, which is when the plot will thicken.
Rahul Johri, EVP and GM, South Asia and South East Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, says, "It is an enthralling story told at an epic scale. It will certainly capture the imagination of Indian kids and make the loveable Kisna a household name. Discovery Kids is differentiated due to its compelling diversity of the finest global and Indian franchises. Its success is an indicator of the distinct value it delivers to the audience and to the trade."
Kisna is a Cosmos Entertainment PTE and Maya Digital Studios production.
Starting October 19, it will air every day at 2 pm and 6 pm.
Discovery Kids is one-and-a-half years old. The channel has six Indian shows at present, for instance Akbar-Birbal and Krishna.
According to Johri, the channel's strategy is to first get the distribution right and then launch new properties.
Discovery Kids, at present, is available in Hindi, English and Tamil across India on both analogue and DTH platforms including Tata Sky, Dish TV, Reliance DTH, Airtel Digital and Videocon D2H.
For the record, Discovery's current portfolio in India includes 11 channels, namely, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, ID, TLC, Discovery Kids, Discovery Science, Discovery Tamil, Discovery Turbo, Discovery HD World, TLC HD World, Animal Planet HD World and Discovery Channel Magazine.
