Business Standard turns 40

The business daily has initiated key initiatives to commemorate 40 years of its existence.

Business Standard, a business daily will turn 40 in March 2014. To commemorate the occasion, it has launched a series of measures to mark the year. On the editorial front it has commissioned a series of articles that chronicle the changes that the paper has witnessed, and has contributed to in the world of business and the economy at large.

It has also released a new brand campaign with three TVCs that portrays the role played by Business Standard in helping readers achieve their aspirations. These ads will be telecast in a focussed manner to reach relevant audience. It is also pushing the campaign across social media. The paper has global following in New York and London, Dubai and Singapore.

It started as a single-edition newspaper in Calcutta in 1975. Today, it is published from 12 centres all over India with a Hindi and English edition along with a website. Business Standard's Hindi edition is printed from eight centres and is now six years old.

Business Standard hosts comments from several industry experts such as Ashok Lahiri, Arvind Subramanian, Subir Gokarn, Urjit Patel, Shankar Acharya and Nitin Desai. These people are either ready to take influential posts in the government or have already served at influential posts.

Some of the other columnists are Parthasarathi Shome, Deepak Lal, Suman Bery, Indira Rajaraman and Abheek Barua.
