The four seasons of the show will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and aired on Sun TV, Gemini TV and Surya TV, respectively.
The Sun Network has bought the rights to air 'Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi' in three regional languages - Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam - from Endemol India, the show's production house. Colors, the Viacom18 channel, holds the rights for the show in the Hindi entertainment genre.
Sun Network is leveraging its bouquet of channels as it has announced the launch of the regional dubbed version of the four seasons of the Khatron Ke Khiladi. The network has bought the rights of the first two and fourth and fifth seasons of the show.
Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi is launching on Gemini TV (Telugu) as 'Fear factor: Sahasa Veerulu - Veelu Denikaina Ready' on June 23 and will air Monday to Thursday at 9.30 pm. Titled 'Dhil Dhil Dhil-Fear Factor' in Tamil, the show will launch on June 29 and air every Sunday at 12 noon on Sun TV. While the date of launch of the show on Surya TV (Malayalam) has not been yet, 'Sahasigam - Fear Factor', as it is called, will air every Thursday and Friday at the 8 pm slot.
Speaking about the idea behind launching dubbed versions, since most of the celebrity faces are known to the north Indian masses, SJ Clement, network programming head, GEC Channels, Sun TV Network, says, "Most of the faces are very well-known in the southern markets as well. It is not the dubbed content that matters, it is the gut-wrenching action or adventure that the viewer wants to see for entertainment." The shows on Gemini TV, Surya TV and Sun TV will target C&S 4+all, Female and Male 15+ and male 25+ audience, respectively.
All the four seasons will air back-to-back on the channels. As for the sponsors, the channels are still in talks with the advertisers. The shows will be promoted across TV, radio and OOH media.
