The show titled 'Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai' will be launched on June 9.
SAB TV, the second rung Hindi GEC from Multi Screen Media, is launching yet another TV comedy series with an "out-of-the-box" concept.
After launching the first comedy-horror, 'Bhootwala Serial', the channel has planned an 'alien comedy' which will go on air on June 9.
Titled 'Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai', the show will replace 'Jeannie Aur Juju' which is wrapping up after 600 episodes. The new show will be aired Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm.
The show is being produced by JD Majethia's Hats-Off Productions and is written and directed by Aatish Kapadia (of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Khichdi fame). The series will bring together TV actors like Sumeet Raghavan, Tanaaz and Bakhtiyar Irani.
According to Anooj Kapoor, senior EVP and business head, SAB TV, the channel, which has taken a hit because of IPL, will swing back soon after the property culminates and the launch of this new show is in the same direction.
Comparing Bhootwala Serial (which failed to do well) to Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai, he says, "In Bhootwala Serial, we were showing ghosts who react in the same way as humans do. Here, the aliens look like humans but they are the underdogs. They have powers but don't know how to use them and struggle to hide their true identity. This is something that gives many instances for comedy. At the same time, there are many lessons for the world to learn from them and vice versa."
"The aliens in the show would be teaching the world that there is so much simplicity in life, but we have made it complicated. We have made our lives much more complicated with the so called 'evolution' of our civilisation and through their perspective and point of view, we'll be forced to think if we really need to make life so complicated," Kapoor adds.
The channel has planned about 120 episodes of Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hain. However, it may be extended depending on the viewer response.
Speaking about the show, Majethia says, "Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai is a complete out-of-the-world comedy TV series. The central theme focuses on a family of aliens coming to earth, and trying to adapt to human surroundings and culture. This is the first time that Indian audiences will get to watch an alien comedy show and we are sure they will love the experience."
"We find aliens dramatically different from us! But we forget that we would appear equally alien to them. This show is about the beauty of adapting to diversity and the comedy and sensitivity that springs out of it. It's a fresh concept and will definitely appeal to Indian audiences," Kapadia adds.
