Comedy Central has launched three shows along with a special online campaign, while STAR World is running a marathon session of Melissa and Joey. AXN, too, has marathon plans for February, 14.
Comedy Central, the comedy entertainment channel from Viacom18, has announced the launch of three shows in the second half of February. Two of these are romantic comedies and the channel is set to fill the 'Valentine' period with love and laughter.
The channel will also extend the romantic spell on to the online audience through the introduction of a character called 'Love Don', who will dispense quirky and comic advice on love and relationship issues. The character will be seen online on the occasion of Valentine's Day on February 13-14.
The channel will further host a contest for its fans on its Twitter handle @ComedyCentralIn, inviting fans to tweet their love issues to Love Don. The wittiest and funniest tweets will earn cool Comedy Central merchandise.
STAR World, on the other hand, will air a marathon session of its popular show, Melissa and Joey, on February 14. The show revolves around Mel, a local politician who finds herself taking care of her niece and nephew, after a family scandal leaves them without their parents.
The complete marathon will be a seven hour content from 12 pm to 6.30 pm.
As for the shows on Comedy Central, the first one to be launched is Rules of Engagement. The romantic comedy will be telecast twice on the channel in this month. On February 14, the first and second seasons of the show will be telecast back to back. A CBS Studios production, the series projects the adventures of two couples and their single friends, all at different stages in their relationships, dealing with complications of dating, commitment and marriage. Starring Patrick Warburton and Megyn Price as a long-married couple, Oliver Hudson and Bianca Kajlich as newly engaged sweethearts, and David Spade and Adhir Kalyan as their still-single friends, it has received many awards.
February, 15 onwards, it will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm, followed by King of Queen at 2 pm.
King of Queen, a CBS Studios production, is an American sitcom that ventures into the exciting life of a delivery man (Doug Heffernan). He lives a content and happy life with his beautiful wife (Carrie) and notorious yet supportive friends. He loves his TV set and is glued to it. In due course of time, Carrie's goofy and annoying father Arthur moves in with them and the turn of events are more than exhilarating as it gets challenging for the couple to meet his unrealistic demands.
Catching up at last will be Perfect Couples, produced by Universal Media Studios, which starts airing on February, 24 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays at 10:30 pm). This American comedy series revolves around three couples at various stages in their relationships, yet facing similar problems. The first couple, Vance and Amy, fight a lot although they have a very active and interesting sex life. On the other hand, Rex and Leigh view themselves as relationship experts and therefore a "perfect couple", while the third couple, Dave and Julia, are considered the normal pair to whom everyone can relate.
As a twist in the tale, the action entertainment channel in the genre, AXN has planned to telecast a not-so-romantic show on Valentine's Day. The popular series on the channel, Sherlock Holmes will be served as a treat to the viewers as back-to-back episodes of Season 3 starting 12 noon.
The crime drama that has a global fan following clocked an average audience (globally) of nearly four million viewers with the finale pulling in 8.8 million viewers-the franchise's biggest audience yet.
