The travel magazine is all set to come up with a special issue that especially focuses on family getaways during the summer season, when it is vacation time for most kids.
Keeping in mind the forthcoming summer vacations, National Geographic Traveller India plans to bring out a summer holiday-focussed issue in March.
The focus of the issue is to provide Indian families an experiential holiday that is slightly off-grid. Some of the places suggested by the magazine are Goa, Kodaikanal and Coorg, where consumers can get interesting experiences such as kite boarding, mud baths and various adventures.
Niloufer Venkatraman, editor, NGTI, says, "Summer vacation is the longest vacation for most people as their children have their schools closed during this time. Some of the places that we have suggested in the magazine are not unknown to people but they can be chosen over others we have visited in the past as they have a lot to offer, which can make the visit memorable. Our content strategy has always been to offer travel stories as an inspiration to travel for others. It may be climbing, hiking or any other. We focus on long stories, in the form of storytelling about a place."
The magazine has articles which focus on tenting and camping holidays not just in the Himalayas but in Maharashtra, too. These camps are fully loaded with good facilities and provide luxury holidays.
The issue will also feature 18-20 international locations.
The key focus of the issue will be people in the middle and upper middle classes that have annual income of at least one million rupees. The 188-page issue will be priced at Rs 130 and the ad-content ratio will be 25:75.
NGTI claims that there will be at least four innovative advertising content in the issue. It will be marketed on the digital platform, along with small on ground activations.
Manas Mohan, publishing director, National Geographic Traveller India and COO, ACK Media, says, "Our focus is a lot different from the others. We focus a lot on the content that is for the families instead of splurging holidays."
The magazine was launched in late 2012 and claims to have a monthly circulation of 110,000 with seven readers per copy.
