The show, titled 'Mad in India', will be aired every Sunday at 9 pm.
Here's news for the Gutthi fans out there! Star Plus has finally announced the launch date of the much awaited show, Sunil Grover's comedy reality titled 'Mad in India'.
'Mad in India' is slated to be launched on February 16. It will be aired every Sunday at 9 pm, at the slot that will be left vacant after Nach Baliye culminates its sixth season on February 1.
Unlike 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' (on Colors), where Grover's character was called Gutthi, his character in 'Mad in India' will be called Chutki.
Grover, popular for playing the character of Gutthi on Colors' comedy show by Kapil Sharma's K9 Productions, exited from Comedy Nights with Kapil and announced his own show, tentatively titled 'The Gutthi Show'. Viacom18 issued a public notice claiming the intellectual property rights to the character.
However, it must be noted that a character very similar to this appeared in Hans Baliye (played by Grover himself) on Star One and the actor had reportedly denied that the channel or the production house (K9 Productions) owns the rights to this character. Having said that, the character got a lot of popularity after appearing on Comedy Nights with Kapil.
Popular television anchor Manish Paul will anchor the show, while Dolly Ahluwalia (of Vicky Donor fame) is also expected to be a part of it.
'Mad in India' will be aired an hour earlier than 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' telecast on Sunday at 10 pm. Comedy Nights is also aired on Saturdays at the same time slot.
Grover's show will compete with Colors' India's Got Talent, Zee TV's Dance India Dance - 4 and Sony Entertainment Television's Boogie Woogie Kids Championship at 9 pm.
