The size of the account is pegged at more than Rs 30 crore.
Delhi-based media agency Xposure has bagged the media mandate of Gionee, the Chinese mobile handset manufacturing company. In fact, the agency won the business despite entering the pitch process late. There were two other big media agencies in the fray.
According to sources, the size of the account is pegged at more than Rs 30 crore.
Rajul Kulshreshtha, co-founder, Xposure, says that the agency won the business despite getting only three days to work on the pitch presentation. He reasons that the team's eagerness and hunger to prove itself gave it an edge, as did its ability to give a better understanding of the mobile market. "So, we may have scored on the intellectual front," Kulshreshtha ventures.
He adds, "The size (of the agency) really didn't matter. Media solution doesn't necessarily mean buying solutions. However, it's not considered important anymore, I think. But that's where agencies like us will have an advantage."
Set up in 2002 in mainland China, Gionee launched its feature phones and smartphones in India earlier this year. In fact, the brand has already launched at least five smartphones till now. The brand is ranked No. 2 in the GSM market in China and sells more than 23 million handsets each year in the country.
In India, Gionee is headquartered in New Delhi and has partnered with four import and distribution partners based in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata and Bengaluru. The brand's target audience is SEC A and B.
Apart from India, the brand has presence in West Asia, North Africa, Vietnam, Taiwan, Myanmar and Thailand.
