Roopam Garg, former COO of ZenithOptimedia and head, Performix, has been assigned the role of all India head, new business and general manager, MEC North.
MEC India, a media and planning agency and founding partner of GroupM, has appointed Roopam Garg, former COO of ZenithOptimedia (ZO) India and head, Performix (ZO's digital arm), as the agency's all India head, new business and general manager, MEC North. Garg will report to T Gangadhar, managing director, MEC India, and will be based in Delhi.
On the new development, Gangadhar says, "I am excited about working alongside someone with the pedigree and gravitas of Roopam. His appointment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in MEC's journey. Given his rich experience in strategic planning, digital communication and business development, I am confident he will bring value to our clients."

He adds that his mandate will be to further drive this key agenda nationally and manage MEC North operations. Garg also lauds MEC's integrated communication planning approach, which he says is "highly business-outcome oriented".
With more than 18 years of experience, Garg has multi-regional expertise across P&L management, new business development, strategic planning and digital communication. In his earlier stint, Garg was based at ZO London, where he headed the global planning for Reckitt Benckiser. He has worked as managing director, Publicis Groupe Media, Vietnam and at Starcom, China, where he was the planning head on the P&G account.
Some of the brands Garg has worked on during his career includes Colgate, Tata Group, Nokia, Honda, Toshiba, Coca-Cola, Nestle and Microsoft.
