The new designation of deputy business head was created in March, 2013 to bring Easwaran on board.
N S Easwaran, erstwhile deputy business head, Zee Tamizh (the Tamil general entertainment channel from ZEEL) has been promoted as business head at the channel. He replaces Prem Menon, who has moved out of the channel to handle a larger role in the southern market for the network. Menon will be in charge of new launches in the southern market.
It may be recalled that in March, a new designation was created within the channel's hierarchy to bring Easwaran on-board. Earlier, he was deputy vice-president of Zee Hindi channels in western India.
The move has come in the middle of the country-wide digitisation drive, which is currently in its third phase.
Menon was instrumental in setting up the southern network for ZEEL. In an official communiqué, Menon says, "It's been a great journey setting up the Zee Tamil channel."
Easwaran will report to Bomman Moradian, South cluster head, ZEEL.
After taking charge in his new role, Easwaran says that the stage is set to move ahead and they have plans in place. "Taking on the baton from Prem Menon, I will take the channel to the next level."
Easwaran has 15 years of experience, including five years at Zee. He started his career in sales in 1998 and entered the media industry in 2000, when he joined New Age Entertainment in the sales and marketing department. The company deals in air time marketing for southern channels.
Moving to Zee in 2007, he headed ad sales, West, for the Zee South channels. However, his mandate expanded in 2008 when he was promoted as head of ad sales in the Western region for Zee Hindi channels.
Easwaran's move is defined by the company as an essential step in strengthening its leadership teams in the regional markets.
For the record, Zee Tamizh was launched in 2008.
