The group won the bid leaving behind seven other publishing houses from the United Kingdom, Fiji, India and Bangladesh.
Maxposure Media Group has bagged the contract to publish the in flight magazine of Bangladeshi airline, Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The first issue of the magazine will be published by Maxposure Media in the month of September.
Kevin J Steele, managing director and CEO, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, says, "Maxposure (G+J) has a pedigree of working with top quality brands like Lufthansa and Mercedes, which adequately reflect the brand aspirations of Biman." Maxposure Media Group is a subsidiary of Gruner+Jahr, where Gruner+Jahr owns 78.25 per cent and 21.75 per cent is owned by Prakash Johari.
Biman Airlines, the national carrier of Bangladesh, flies to 18 destinations in the country, apart from 14 international destinations. The name of the bi-monthly magazine is yet to be disclosed. Keeping the profile of the passengers of Biman Airlines in mind, the magazine will be bilingual - to be published in English and Bengali.
In an official communiqué, Prakash Johari, managing director and CEO, Maxposure Media Group, says, "This is in line with Maxposure's strategy to strengthen its position in the international market. Bangladesh with a population of 163 million enjoys a GDP growth of 6.1 per cent and this makes it an ideal time for us to enter this growing market. Bangladesh is also a strategic market for us and we intend to play a key role in its publishing industry."
