The Hindi general entertainment space saw three launches in Week 25, including Meri Bhabhi on Star Plus, Jodha Akbar on Zee TV and Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors.
While continuing to stick to its second position, Zee TV has grown stronger in Week 25 of 2013, on the back of its new property Jodha Akbar which opened with 2.3 TVRs, and a special Jaipur episode of Qubool Hai, another fiction show on the channel. The channel has thus added 16 extra points to clock 209 GRPs, up from last week's 193 GRPs. The channel was able to push three of its properties in the top watched shows list.
Star Plus leads the Hindi GEC (general entertainment channel) genre with 243 GRPs, down from 254 GRPs. With a decrease in the GRP numbers, the channel is just 32 points ahead of the second top GEC, Zee TV, as per the TAM data (C&S, 4+ HSM) provided by a TAM software subscriber. The top GEC was able to get five of its fiction properties in the list of most watched shows in Week 25.
Maintaining its place at No. 3, Viacom 18's Colors has increased its GRPs by seven points, garnering 188 GRPs, up from last week's 181 GRPs. Four of the channel's shows are in the top ten rankers.
MSM's Sony continues to be at No. 4, with a marginal loss of two points to clock 149 GRPs in Week 25 (as compared to 151 GRPs in the previous week). Sony's sibling channel SAB TV is at No. 5, 11 GRPs behind Sony. The channel has garnered 138 GRPs in the current week (down from 140 GRPs in Week 24). Its flagship show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, continues to be on the most watched shows' list.
At No. 6, Life OK is at 136 GRPs, up from 127 GRPs that it garnered last week. Sahara One follows Life OK with 20 GRPs in the current week.
Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum rules the roost of the top programmes in the Hindi GECs with 4.2 TVRs. Zee TV's Qubool Hai stands at No. 2 with 4 TVRs, followed by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (SAB TV) and Veera (Star Plus), both the shows having clocked 3.6 TVRs each, at No. 3.
DID Super Moms (Zee TV) has once again geared up to clock 3.5 TVRs in the Saturday episode on June, 22. Next, at No. 5, Colors' latest non-fiction property, Comedy Nights with Kapil, has debuted at 3.4 TVRs on Saturday, June 22.
Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke stands next with 3.3 TVRs. At No. 7, Balika Vadhu from the Colors banner gathered TVRs of 3.2, followed jointly by the three Star Plus fiction properties, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Saathiya Saath Nibhaana and Pyar Ka Dard Hai with 3.1 TVRs, each.
Colors' shows, Madhubala (2.7 TVRs) and Uttaran (2.4 TVRs), end the list at ninth and tenth positions, respectively.
