The five channels in the Ten Sports group are priced in the range of Rs 36 for Ten Sports and over Rs 400 for Ten Golf per subscriber in a-la-carte.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises-owned sports broadcaster Taj Television India has planned to extend its channels to Hathway and Datacom. Taj TV network owns five channels, including Ten Sports, Ten Action, Ten Cricket, Ten Golf and Ten HD.
Ten Sports channels will be available for Hathway subscribers in DAS and non-DAS areas in all the major cities and towns, out of the total 140 cities and towns where Hathway has presence. Through this deal, the sports broadcaster has the opportunity to reach out to a cable TV universe of more than 10.5 million subscriptions.
Atul Pande, CEO, Ten Sports, says, "This deal will not only make compelling sports content covering cricket, football, golf, athletics and WWE available for the viewers of Hathway but also help Hathway to improve its revenues through subscription."
The move comes just ahead of the much-talked about Tri Series between India, West Indies and Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to start on June, 28. Pande further adds, "This year Ten has the maximum live India matches across all sports networks, and Hathway subscribers will have access to all these matches."
The Ten network has the broadcast rights of five cricket boards including South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and West Indies. It also has rights for Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014, 2014 Asian Game, 2014 FIH Hockey World Cup, US Open, ATP, WTA, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Brazilian League, US PGA Championship, European PGA Tour, Asian Tour, Ryder Cup and WWE.
In an official communiqué, Jagdish Kumar, CEO, Hathway, says, "Our customers can enjoy the exhilarating India cricket starting this month. Also, we will be offering premium content to our customers through Ten Golf and Ten Action."
