V D Wadhwa, who has been associated with Timex Watches for more than 15 years, has joined Siti Cable Network as chief executive officer. Siti Cable is an Essel Group company, which is one of the largest multi system operators (MSO) in the country. His main responsibility at Siti Cable will be to lead the organisation.
Wadhwa will report to Subhash Chandra, chairman, Siti Cable. In an official communiqué, Chandra says, "With Wadhwa's strong business acumen and strategic inputs, we expect the company to touch new highs with the aggressive growth plan in the digital regime."
It may be recalled that in December 2012, DNA's K U Rao was reported to have joined the company as CEO.
At Siti Cable, Wadhwa will be responsible for taking forward the organisational aspirations of growing the business multifold through digitisation. He will be based in Noida.
Since 1988, Wadhwa is a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India in FCS, corporate laws & finance. He was vice-president, sales and marketing, India and SAARC at Timex Watches between 1998 and 2006. He was promoted as senior vice-president, business development, Timex Group India. In 2010, he became managing director and CEO of the company.
Wadhwa has more than 28 years of general management experience in consumer lifestyle and retail industry and is largely credited with profitable turnaround of Timex's operations in India and establishing its retail operations in India and South Asian countries.
He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, from where he graduated in AMP 175, management in 2008. He has been on various committees of FICCI and Assocham and worked as president of the Horological Federation of India.
