Sunil Mutreja quits Amar Ujala

After being associated with the company for six years, Mutreja has decided to move on.

Sunil Mutreja, executive director of Amar Ujala, has put in his papers at the Hindi media house. He is currently serving his notice period and will be with the organisation till the end of May. Confirming the development to afaqs!, Mutreja says, "I've been with the company for six years and now is the time to try something else."

He has not disclosed his next destination yet.

He joined the company in May, 2007 as president, marketing.

Earlier, Mutreja was in Muscat as chief executive officer of the Advertising International Corporation LLC (ADINC) Y&R (a joint venture of the Omzest Group and Young & Rubicam) for a year.

Mutreja is a linguist who is proficient in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, English, Hindi and Punjabi and has also dabbled in movie making.

With more than three decades of experience, he started his career with The Times of India (TOI). He was with the TOI for four years, following which he became associate vice-president at Times TV for a year. He has also worked as CEO with Channel Nine Entertainment, an ad filmmaking company. He has led the Rajasthan circle for Dainik Bhaskar as well, where he looked after various functions of the daily. He was associated with Dainik Bhaskar for one-and-a-half years.
