K Jayaraman, who resigned from Hathway as CEO and MD, joins Zee as head of the channel's distribution and placement business.
K Jayaraman, former CEO and director, Hathway Cable and Datacom, has joined Zee as head of its distribution and placement business.
Jayaraman resigned from Hathway in January and was slated to take up his new role at Zee from March 12. He will report to Puneet Goenka, managing director and CEO, Zee.
Deepti Verma, who has been leading the initiatives for distribution and placements at Zee, will now report to Jayaraman. As part of his new responsibilities, Jayaraman will advise and guide the directors on the board of Media Pro to maximise revenue for the distribution company. Media Pro is a joint venture between Star Den and Zee Turner to create efficiencies in the distribution sector, incentivise digitisation and address piracy issues in India. It licenses channels associated with Zee Turner and Star Den.
Jayaraman was associated with Hathway for the past 15 years and under his leadership, Hathway's cable and satellite connections have increased from less than 5,00,000 homes to almost 10 million. During his tenure, he has worked in different capacities including director, vice-chairman and CEO.
A chartered accountant, Jayaraman began his career in 1987 as a project officer at ICICI. He then worked for CitiCorp Securities for a while. Subsequently, Jayaraman joined Hathway and worked with other Hathway Group companies such as H&R Johnson and Asianet Satellite Communications.
