Kevin Vaz, erstwhile president, ad sales, STAR India will now handle Jalsha and the English cluster. Amit Chopra will step into Vaz's shoes.
The ad sales team at STAR India has seen a few changes. Though the network chose not to comment on the details, sources inform that Kevin Vaz, president, ad-sales, STAR India will take over as general manager for Jalsha channels and the English cluster of the network. To fill in his shoes, Amit Chopra, who joined STAR from HMVL a couple of months ago, will now handle ad sales for the entire STAR Network.
Chopra was brought in to handle the sports channels of STAR India in January, 2013. He has about 20 years of experience and started his career in 1993 with Hindustan Unilever. He has been with Hindustan Media Ventures Limited (HMVL) for about seven years.
Vaz has been associated with the STAR Network for nearly 16 years. He moved to STAR from TOI in 1996. At TOI, he handled advertising and marketing functions as assistant manager. He has worked at STAR in various capacities under sales and was appointed president, ad sales in November, 2009.
For the record, STAR India recently brought Danish Khan, erstwhile marketing head, Sony, on-board to head fiction for its Hindi GEC, Star Plus.
