With more than two decades of experience in sales, business development, television production, rights distribution and sponsor servicing in the sports broadcast industry, Manocha has been promoted as chief operating officer at Nimbus Sport.
Nimbus Sport has promoted Sunil Manocha as chief operating officer. He replaces Yannick Colaco, who joined NBA as India managing director.
Manocha has more than 20 years of experience in the sports broadcast industry and has worked in sales, business development, television production, rights distribution and sponsor servicing.
Speaking on his appointment, Manocha says, "With established expertise across all verticals of the sports value chain - from origination to intermediation to delivery - Nimbus Sport is fully equipped for growth in an exciting new era for sports business in India and Asia."
Manocha started his career with Nimbus Sport in 1985 and has worked on over two dozen major international sports projects in his tenure. Some of these projects are the Cricket World Cups 1992 and 2003, the ICC Champions Trophies of 2000, 2002 and 2004, the Asian Games 1998, Hero Indian Open Golf 2012 and more.
He also headed the advertising revenue function at Nimbus' associate company, Neo Sports, with distinction through 2006-08 before a brief stint away as an entrepreneur.
In 2009, he started his own venture called LSD Media, a youth entertainment channel for the Northeast region of India covering the seven sister states and Sikkim.
Manocha returned to Nimbus Sport as president in 2012.
Nimbus Sport is the full service sports marketing division of Nimbus Communications specializing in television rights distribution and management, television production, sponsor services, event management, new media content and on-air advertising sales.
It has been involved in managing rights transactions worth over USD 2 billion to date. It was started in 1987 by Harish Thawani and is much known for its sports channels, Neo Cricket and Neo Sports.
