India Today to bring Discovery's magazine to India

Publishing company and TV network join hands to publish monthly title.

The India Today Group has joined hands with Discovery Networks Asia Pacific to launch the Discovery Channel Magazine in India.

The Indian edition of Discovery Channel Magazine will be a monthly, and have international content based on a wide spectrum of topics including nature, adventure, marvels, sci-tech, history, the universe, forensics, seekers, survival, info-tech, psychology and the environment.

Rahul Johri, senior vice-president and general manager, South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific, says, "Discovery Channel magazine will provide additional touch points for our viewers and will serve as an extension of Discovery Channel."

The monthly magazine will be similar to the existing South Asian version. While it is not yet known who among the two partners (India Today Group and Discovery) will handle the editorial, the distribution will be handled by the India Today Group, reveal sources.

Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group, comments, "India's growth and the exposure of the average Indian to the world have created a market for globally acclaimed quality knowledge products. Discovery Channel will fill the void in this space in the Indian market. We are looking forward to launch this magazine and feel strongly that this will add to the vast portfolio of diversified, market leading products of the India Today Group and will add to the depth of our relationship with our customers."

Currently, Discovery Channel Magazine is present in Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
