The one day event, which will take place on February 22, will see a host of speakers from the radio, print, marketing and television fraternity talking about various facets of the industry.
Odisha-based Eastern Media, publishers of Sambad newspaper, will organise a media and entertainment conclave to promote the industry in the eastern region of the country. Titled Media and Entertainment - National Conclave 2013, the one day conclave will take place on February 22 at Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar.
The topics of discussion will include 'Radio- Expansion of FM Radio in Small Cities', 'How Does Print Media Tackle Low Readership among Current Generation', 'Media for the Next Decade is Social Media', 'TV as a Medium will be Relevant only for Demonstration Purposes' and 'Today, Brands are created to be sold'.
Talking about the initiative, Monica Nayyar-Patnaik, joint managing director, Eastern Media, says, "For the first time in the history of eastern India, there will be panel discussions on radio, TV, print, media and brands. It is our effort to organise a national level M&E discussion in the capital of Odisha. It is Sambad's effort to put Odisha on the national platform among all those who matter."

The media company has roped in Nalco, Udyan Fresh and Centurion University as the three main sponsors for the event.
Nayyar Patnaik adds that the lifestyle of youth is changing in Odisha with the opening of newer brands, malls, multiplexes, food joints, real estate and education. All this has led to a number of television channels, newspapers, mass entertainment and FM radio stations coming into existence, making Odisha an important place from an M&E perspective.
For the record, Eastern Media publishes the Odia daily Sambad. It also owns the FM radio station Radio Choklate, television news channel Kanak TV, Odia GEC Manjari TV, an events, music and films division (Eastern Media Entertainment) and Sambad School of Media and Culture.
