TV 18 and Viacom18 joint venture IndiaCast, which collates the content assets of the two companies for distribution, has taken on board Amit Dhanuka as senior vice-president, international business.

Based in Mumbai, Dhanuka will report to
Gaurav Gandhi
, chief operating officer, IndiaCast.

Dhanuka, who comes from Videocon D2H, says that this is like moving to the opposite side of the table and believes that this will add a new level in his career. In his new role, he will oversee the Asia Pacific business, international syndication, outbound ad sales from India as well as content and commercial affairs at IndiaCast.

Gandhi says that since the business has grown in the two years since the launch of the distribution arm, there is a whole bouquet of channels on offer for international markets such as the UK, Europe and Dubai.

"We definitely needed a person to take care of all these operations, with the growth in business, from distribution to syndication to sales. Dhanuka is an equally commercial and content person."

IndiaCast Media Distribution recently got on board Govind Shahi as business head for its UK and Europe operations; Shahi is based in London.

Dhanuka adds that his shift to distribution will be interesting. "The new role gives me many new opportunities. Being moved from a domestic mandate to an international one, along with the switch to the other side of the table, I look forward to bring in a new perspective for the growth of this fast growing organization."

Dhanuka, an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, USA, started his career with Sony Pictures Television International in the strategic planning and business development department in 2004. After spending close to two years there, he shifted to join the film distribution company, E-City Films, as vice-president.

In 2008, he moved on to join Zee Network in the same capacity. Later, he shifted to Videocon DTH as head, content and VAS and stayed there for about three years.
