Delhi Press is all set to launch a science and technology magazine from next month. Titled Periscope, it will be circulated free of cost along with The Caravan.

The company claims that the title will have an initial print run of 45,000 copies and will have 80 plus pages. The new magazine will be published once in six months.

Apart from the regular readers of The Caravan, the new readers for the supplement will be all those appreciate that science is there in everyday life and would like to understand it more. "A must for anyone who wants to cultivate a sense of taste for science, even if not in the field," says Anant Nath, editor, The Caravan.

Talking about the new launch, Nath says, "While in the western world, popular science writing nourishes the conversation between science and society, Indian media has ignored this dialogue. There are no 'science' magazines of any stature. The science reporting in the newspapers is heavily drawn from science reports in the western press and the few magazines that had ventured to embrace this topic in its seriousness are not existent. We want to fill this gap."

The magazine will follow a narrative style of writing, similar to that of The Caravan. Its target audience comprises of the elite class including trend setters, decision makers and opinion leaders. It will have science and technology stories from around the world.

The advertisers profile for the new offering will include niche brands, similar to that of National Geographic channel.

For the record, The Caravan follows narrative journalism and was re-launched in January, 2010.
