To expand its coverage of business news, the Mumbai-based English daily will share stories from Outlook Business and Outlook Money every week.
Mumbai-based English daily Free Press Journal has inked a content sharing deal with the Outlook Group with an aim to expand its business news coverage.
As a part of the deal, the English daily will use two stories each of Outlook Money and Outlook Business magazines and publish them every Friday initially for one year. The first story was used on January 11.
Speaking about the development to afaqs!, Jagdish Rattanani, editor, business, Free Press Journal, says, "We will use the two stories from each of the magazines in separate weeks. They will be exclusively for our Mumbai, Nasik and Pune editions, and will not be circulated in the Indore and Bhopal editions."
He adds that the association with the Outlook Group will help Free Press Journal to introduce feature stories in addition to the sharp news it has been covering so far. The main focus of these stories will be on the banking and financial services sector.
Abhishek Karnani, director, Free Press Journal, says, "The collaboration with the Outlook Group will expand coverage, lend new perspective and offer more value to our growing base of readers in Mumbai. Select stories from Outlook Business and Outlook Money will help us add to our growing coverage on the business pages of the newspaper."
Rattanani clarifies that no new pages will be added for this.
This is not a revenue sharing deal. Free Press Journal will get business stories from the two magazines, while the newspaper will carry advertisements for both Outlook Money and Outlook Business magazines.
Free Press Journal has already started its marketing activity around the deal and plans to approach clients and different agencies for ads. The English daily plans to place ads in leading magazines and newspapers in the coming week.
Indranil Roy, president, Outlook Group, says, "We have collaborated with the Free Press Journal newspaper to ensure that our content reaches out to a wider targeted readership base in Mumbai. The unique co-operation drives value by enlarging the target audience of Outlook Money and Outlook Business, taking our content and perspective right on to the pages of a daily newspaper."
The collaboration will also ensure that Outlook Money and Outlook Business reach out to a wider target audience in Mumbai.
Swaminath Sadanand established the Free Press Journal 83 years ago. Sadanand also started the Free Press of India news agency, the first venture of its kind in Asia.
