Continuing to hold on to the No. 1 spot with a vice-like grip, Star Plus has managed to walk into year 2013 with as much as 42 extra GRPs in its pocket.
According to the latest TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM) provided to subscribers, the channel has garnered 287 GRPs for the week ended January 5 (Week 1) as against the 245 points that it had garnered in the previous week (Week 52). The win has come primarily on the back of Big Star Entertainment Awards (5.9 TVR) and Nach Baliye (5 TVR).

Breaking the tie Zee TV established with Sony in Week 52 for the third spot (at 198 GRPs), the former has moved ahead of Sony to solely occupy the No. 3 position with 211 GRPs - clearly suggesting a gain of 13 extra points over the previous score. Sony, meanwhile, has slipped to the fourth spot with a loss of 18 GRPs during the week (with 180 points).
Following next, Sony entertainment's sibling channel SAB TV occupies the fifth spot with 150 points, down from the 156 points that it had registered in the previous week.
At No. 6 is Life OK, the second GEC from the STAR stable, which has garnered 114 GRPs, up from the 110 points in Week 52.
At No. 7, Sahara One, meanwhile, stays stable at 23 GRPs.
Big Star Entertainment Awards (Star Plus) leads the list of the most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 5.94, followed by Balika Vadhu (Colors) and Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus), with TVRs of 5.14 and 4.68, respectively. Also, Diya Aur Baati Hum shares the third spot with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, another Star Plus property.
The fourth most-watched programme is Saathiya Saath Nibhana on Star Plus (4.59 TVR), followed by Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV (4.47 TVR) at the fifth position.
Golden Petal Awards (Colors, 4.45 TVR), Sasural Simar Ka (Colors, 4.41 TVR), Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashmah (SAB TV, 4.35 TVR), Nach Baliye (Star Plus, 4.34 TVR) and Madhubala (Colors, 4.12 TVR) are also a part of the most viewed programmes of the week.
