Prashant Madan bags the Piyush Pandey Scholarship at Berlin School

Madan, creative director, marketing and on air promotion, Disney-UTV India will attend the Berlin School of Creative Leadership EMBA programme starting March, 2013. The entire fee of 53,000 Euros will be covered under the Piyush Pandey Scholarship for Creative Leadership.

Prashant Madan, creative director, marketing and on air promotion, Disney-UTV India has bagged the 'Piyush Pandey Scholarship for Creative Leadership' that was announced in October, 2012.

He will be the first Indian student to attend the Berlin School of Creative Leadership EMBA Program at Steinbeis University, Berlin that will commence in March, 2013. It will include five specially designed interdisciplinary two-week modules to be held in Asia, Europe and North America. The entire programme is spread over one year and involves students from 45 different countries.

The entire course fee of 53,000 Euros will be paid under the scholarship, which is offered to candidates of Indian descent and currently residing in India.

Madan says, "When I learnt about the programme, I wanted to go as it gives me a chance to learn from the global players in the industry. I would like to come back and implement those lessons in the Indian market."

The scholarship was established to honour Pandey's long-standing support of the Berlin School. It was designed to help support leadership in the creative industries in India and emphasizes the importance that effective leadership has in achieving creative excellence.

The eligibility criteria for the scholarship required the candidates to have completed a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and have a minimum of five years of relevant professional leadership experience in the creative industries.

The applications were reviewed by a panel of judges from the Berlin School, including Pandey, and the winner was chosen on the basis of strength of the personal statement as listed in their EMBA application form, as well as his or her overall professional profile.

Madan has spent more than 12 years in on-air promotion and original content creation in genres including youth entertainment, reality television, English and Hindi movies, business news, events, game shows and sports.

He has also won 25 PromaxBDA awards for excellence in on-air creative work and has been responsible for the launch and on-air branding of entertainment channels such as Sony Pix, UTV Bindass, UTV Stars, UTV Action and UTV Movies.

He began work in CNBC TV 18 as producer, features and on air promotions, in 2000. He worked there till 2004 and then shifted to Sony Entertainment Television as promo team leader for Pix. He worked in Sony till October, 2006 and then shifted to Disney-UTV in April, 2007.

The Berlin School of Creative was established in 2006 and has attracted an ever-increasing diverse group of participants from across a wide spectrum of the creative industries, including advertising, design, entertainment, marketing and media.
