Currently, as in the other countries, subscription will be the source of revenue for the network. NDTV plans to evaluate the possibility of advertising revenues once the channels have gained a foothold in the market.
Expanding its reach to the 76th international market, New Delhi Television (NDTV) has launched its three channels, NDTV 24x7 (English news channel), NDTV Good Times (travel and lifestyle channel) and NDTV India (Hindi news channel) in Malaysia. The channels are part of Asia Broadcast Network's (ABN) new platform in Malaysia and available in a combination of basic as well as especially dedicated NDTV branded packages.
NDTV channels are available in 75 countries, internationally. Under its slogan 'Access for All', ABN will make the channels accessible in Southeast Asia's pay TV market - Malaysia. ABN has signalled plans to offer full triple play services such as video-on-demand, social TV and interactive gaming, alongside high-speed internet and voice services over a hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) network.
The content for the channels will remain the same initially. Rahul Sood, head, distribution and affiliate sales, NDTV Network mentions that there is hardly any scope for rescheduling in news channels but the network will evaluate the possibility for the travel and lifestyle channel depending upon the feedback.
Sood adds, "We are glad that the 2million plus Indian community in Malaysia will get access to the iconic content produced in India. We hope the viewers of Malaysia will be pleased to be informed and entertained like our viewers in the rest of the world. We are also in the process of expanding our distribution footprints in other countries of Southeast Asia and Europe as well before the end of this year."
NDTV is viewed across the UK, Europe, USA, and West and South Asia. With 23 offices and studios across the country, NDTV has three national award winning news channels.
